In the Zijdelwaard district of Uithoorn, on the former site of sports hall De Scheg, a new and sustainable Multifunctional Accommodation (MFA) was officially inaugurated on December 1, 2022. MFA De Scheg provides space for a new sports hall, where many Uithoorn sports clubs and elementary school make use of. In addition, the building houses a sports café, community center 't Buurtnest, a large participation kitchen and childcare Solidoe. The building focuses on the themes of togetherness and meeting. Much attention has also been paid to sustainability. For example, the MFA 100% is gas-free. The roof of the building is covered with solar panels, CLT (cross layer wood) has been used everywhere and the climate system has been designed sustainably. Besides the heat pumps, the field components of Belimo Servomotoren B.V. play an important role.
MFA De Scheg in Uithoorn was realized by construction combination Sportbouwers, in which Slangen+Koenis Architects, Van Baaren Aannemers and HoffmanDME Techniek B.V. joined forces. HoffmanDME Techniek B.V. bore responsibility for the design, engineering and realization of the climate installations, sanitary installations, light and power installations, fire alarm installation, intrusion installation, access control installation, data installation and associated control techniques. "For the heating and cooling of the MFA, eight air/water heat pumps have been installed on the roof," explains Gertjan Eshuis, Project Planner at HoffmanDME Techniek B.V. "The heat pumps are arranged in cascade in an enclosed outdoor space, in which an air/water heat pump for hot water preparation is also installed. Because of the many users and user requirements, the municipality of Uithoorn wanted to be able to independently heat and cool all areas of the MFA. This is why we installed 6-Way control ball valves from Belimo Servomotoren B.V. in the cascade arrangement of the heat pumps." Underfloor heating was largely chosen as the delivery system in the rooms. "Post-heating batteries have been installed in a number of rooms. And also in the sports hall, post-heating batteries were chosen, which are controlled per hall section."
The relationship between HoffmanDME Techniek B.V. and Belimo Servomotoren B.V. goes back many years, says Eshuis. "As an organization we like to work with regular partners, who like us value quality, durability and a high level of service. Belimo Servomotoren B.V. is one such partner. The lines of communication between our companies are short. Moreover, the quality of the Belimo products is excellent and we can easily make product selections on the Belimo website. Most products are available from stock. It is not for nothing that we have also applied the products in our own establishment in Bergambacht. It is also very pleasant that we are kept well informed about new products and product developments."
An example of such a new product is the Belimo Energy Valve™ with thermal metering, which cleverly integrates certified energy measurement (MID), pressure-independent control, a Delta T manager and IoT-based billing. "This saves installation time as well as costs," says Erik van Uffelen, Account Manager West-Netherlands at Belimo Servomotoren B.V. "The new Energy Valves provide very accurate (in)control and flow, resulting in a considerable efficiency improvement. Moreover, the units already comply with the Heat Act for 2030. Thanks to the certified (calibrated) energy measurement and IoT-based billing, it is possible to bill exactly according to consumption."
MFA De Scheg is one of the first projects in which the Belimo Energy Valves™ with thermal metering have been applied. "Because the application was new, we watched and supported commissioning," Van Uffelen says. "A total of eight Energy Valves were installed in the heat and cold distributors in the technical area." EPIV pressure-independent readjustments were used in the user rooms, says Eshuis. "And the temperature and flow sensors are also from Belimo Servomotoren B.V. In other words, the technical space is fairly orange."
