870 solar panels power North and West House residents

Thus, the energy consumed by the residents of buildings North and West House is sustainably generated by 870 solar panels. As permanent partner of Installatiebedrijf G. van Dam B.V., Home-NRG was awarded the project supervision, delivery and installation of the complete PV system.

"As organizations, we complement each other well," says Mark Schröder, project manager at Home-NRG, the Twente importer and wholesaler of solar panels and solar PV systems. "The lines of communication are short and we are well acquainted with each other's thinking and working methods, taking projects to the very highest level. Project OurDomain Amsterdam South East is a great calling card for this. In the preliminary phase, we jointly identified the wishes, requirements and challenges regarding the PV installations."

By using relatively small panels, Home-NRG was able to make even more efficient use of the available space and perfectly meet the required power output.

Customized project plan

The total capacity of the installation was prescribed in the specifications, he says. "On this basis, we wrote a project plan, in which not only the number and type of solar panels, but also the capacities, positioning and substructure were worked out in detail. In doing so, we naturally anticipated the lightning, sprinkler and other installations on the roof." Based on the project plan, Home-NRG handled the procurement, delivery and installation of the complete PV system, including the inverters. "All inverters were provided with a canopy by us, so that they are even better protected from weather and wind and thus ensuring a long service life."

Mounting system with ballast

In this project, Home-NRG has to deal with different roofs and roof heights. "In the preliminary phase, we investigated which substructures were suitable for mounting at these heights with ballast," says Schröder. "Based on this inventory, we selected the flat roof mounting system from Van der Valk Solar Systems, which can be mounted up to 50 meters high. Only on the highest roof (North House, ed.) was a mechanical attachment used." A system with ballast was desirable because some roofs had sprinkler systems milled in, he says. "By choosing ballast instead of mechanical brackets, problems with these installation facilities were avoided. For the tallest roof, Installation Company

G. van Dam B.V. carefully mapped out the sprinkler installation. We then laid our installation plan over this and worked out a solution for all the 'conflicting points', in close cooperation with Van der Valk. This ensured a smooth implementation."

Panels of 365 and 375 Wp

The solar panels were purchased from LG, which can provide relatively small panels with high power, Schroeder said. "In total, we installed 870 panels. This was divided into roofs with 365 Wp panels and roofs with 375 Wp panels. This allowed us to make even more efficient use of the available space and perfectly meet the prescribed power output."
