Students and teaching staff at Avans Hogeschool in Den Bosch have been able to learn and work in a comfortable and pleasant indoor climate since the beginning of this school year. During the summer vacations, fourteen classrooms were equipped with the decentralized CGL-2 ventilation units from WOLF Energiesystemen, which combine sufficient fresh air with high durability and whisper-quiet performance.
The order in Den Bosch was a special one, says André van de Wetering, engineer at WOLF Energiesystemen. "In just three weeks, we made a proposal for the ventilation units, delivered the units and took care of commissioning. This short lead time was necessary because Avans Hogeschool wanted all the work completed before the end of the summer vacations."
"In the UO phase, it turned out that no techniques were allowed to be installed in the ceiling, and placement on the roof was not allowed either. No problem for our compact and efficient CGL-2 units, which can easily be placed on the floor of the classrooms," said Van de Wetering. "A capacity of 1,000 m3/h was prescribed for the ventilation units. A hefty amount, which can affect noise. To prevent distractions from the ventilation units, Avans University of Applied Sciences and installer Croonwolter&dros expressly sought a whisper-quiet installation. The CGL-2 provides just that. Thanks to the application of modern technology such as EC fans, the ventilation unit operates extremely quietly and inconspicuously provides fresh, filtered air in the room."
An integrated cross-flow exchanger utilizes the warm return air to preheat cool fresh air, Van de Wetering says. "Without any odor transfer. "The ventilation unit meets the strictest hygiene requirements (according to VDI 6022). Thanks to a heat recovery efficiency of 90%, the college also benefits from significantly lower energy costs compared to ventilation via window windows, for example. Post-heating registers in the system prevent annoying drafts, while a built-in bypass allows free summer night ventilation (or: summer night cooling)." The CGL-2 unit uses state-of-the-art sensor technology to continuously measure all relevant air quality parameters. "The unit intelligently adjusts the flow rate so that the air quality always meets the highest requirements. Also unique is the WOLF control, which allows the ventilation unit to be easily linked to the building management system."
Thanks in part to the aforementioned features, the CGL-2 ventilation unit turned out to be the perfect unit for Avans Hogeschool. "Before we made our offer, we checked the stock in our factory," Van de Wetering explains. "We turned out to have more than enough units in stock, after which just-in-time deliveries were scheduled in mid-August. As soon as the assembly was ready to this point, we also took care of the commissioning, ensuring Avans Hogeschool optimal and whisper-quiet operation at minimum energy consumption."
