In the Houthaven in Amsterdam, between the Spaarndammer neighborhood and the bustling IJ River, work is in full swing on an ambitious project: a climate-neutral residential area with some 2,700 homes, various amenities and commercial spaces, spread across seven car-free islands, each with a unique character inspired by the area's rich history.
Construction of Wood Harbor began in April 2021. Since then, more than 1,900 homes have already been completed and, if all goes according to plan, the district will be completely finished in 2026. DUCO was able to join in on a project in this new residential district, installing 170 DucoBox Focus units. The DucoBox Focus is designed to enable zonal evacuation of polluted and/or humid air, thanks to patented internal control valves. This ventilation box makes use of intelligent measurements based on CO2 and/or moisture, so that ventilation is only provided where and when needed, in exactly the right amount.
Hemubo of Almere carried out the project in two phases: the first phase was completed in December 2022, followed by the final phase in March 2023.
Wesley Paardekoper, Project Manager at Hemubo, gives us an insight into the project, "We chose to integrate the DucoBox Focus because of the internal control valves that can be placed in it. The extraction points of the bathrooms have a control valve with a humidity sensor, while the control valve for the living and bedrooms has a CO2 sensor. Installation and assembly went extremely well. The unit is easy to mount on the ceiling, and installing and adjusting the internal control valves was also very easy. Both we and the residents are satisfied with the ease of use."
