In Rotterdam, one beautiful residential project after another is being realized. One of the most extraordinary is Little C at the head of the Coolhaven. Here a new piece of the city is being developed with fifteen industrial-looking buildings, each with its own style and character. In these buildings 315 homes will be realized in combination with collective roof gardens, balconies with wrought iron fences, meeting spaces, workplaces, restaurants and stores. Although the neighborhood is close to the center of the metropolis, it is quiet living with a green city park a stone's throw away. Everywhere you feel connected to the outdoors.
Each of the buildings within Little C has its own style, but they have one thing in common: outdoor living and sustainability take center stage. To make the transition between inside and outside even smoother, the homes are equipped with a high comfort and energy-efficient air handling system. Thanks to FläktGroup's air handling units and heat recovery, all buildings are guaranteed a perfect indoor climate. FläktGroup is the partner in the field of progressive, energy-efficient air treatment and precision solutions. "There were strict requirements for the installation technology. A lot of heat must be recovered and the facilities must be energy efficient. We delivered a total of thirteen WTW units that provide air treatment, cooling and heating," says account manager Maarten van Dalen. Thanks to these units, a huge amount of energy is saved, he explains: "High-efficiency heat wheels recover 80 to 85% of heat from the building. So you only need to generate a small portion of energi e for cooling and heating."
Little C is a new piece of Rotterdam known for its green character that exudes tranquility in a busy metropolis. Residents gather here on their communal roof terrace, where they enjoy the view of the neighborhood in peace. So it is not surprising that noise levels are very important. FläktGroup applied special fans in combination with damping. Van Dalen: "Thanks to FläktGroup's innovative and smart control, each room can be adapted to the personal preferences of the user. The installations are smart and work standalone. They really are an assistant to the user. The systems work automatically and residents have nothing to worry about. " Flexibility A challenge within the project is that no two spaces are the same. "For each space, we considered which air handling unit would be most suitable; each unit is adapted to the available set-up location. There are units on the roof as well as in the technical rooms. This was done in close consultation with Terberg Totaal Installaties. Van Dalen "Together we adjusted the units and ensured that a perfect indoor climate was realized for every room." Van Dalen is very pleased with the cooperation with Terberg. "The installer planned and worked out everything down to the last detail, so everything went smoothly. It is a challenging project that we brought to a successful conclusion through very close cooperation. We are enormously proud to have collaborated on such an energy-efficient and progressive project."
