Van Kessel Ventilatie B.V. from Maassluis is such a company. With more than thirty years of experience, this family business supplies and installs complete air treatment and ventilation installations in large to medium-sized utility projects.

Assembly work, project supervision and possibly inspection, commissioning and cleaning: Van Kessel likes to keep its clients satisfied. About 30 permanent employees work there, says director Colin van Kessel. "We work completely independently for various clients. In 1978 my father, Bert van Kessel, founded the company and it is still running smoothly today. This is due to our flexibility and short lines of communication. We find it important to build a long-term relationship with our clients. We work with a solid core of good clients. We cry and laugh with them. That works pleasantly."

The strength of the company

Van Kessel took over the company eleven years ago from his father. He finds it important to maintain a good company culture, both for clients and for his own staff. "There is always one work planner and one project manager assigned to a project. They know everything about it and can keep short lines of communication. That is the strength of our company. Our mechanics also work independently. Most of them started as assistant mechanics and then progressed to independent mechanics."

Nurture staff

Like other companies, Van Kessel is noticing that fewer personnel are available than before. Fortunately, many employees have been working there for a long time. "Staff shortages are a concern throughout the industry, which is why we are committed to our staff," says Van Kessel. "At the end of the week we hold Friday afternoon drinks, we organize barbecues and company outings. And also important for both client and staff: we make sure that our mechanics ride in a good bus, with decent equipment. The people you have, you have to cherish."
