Groningen exchange homes get electric window openers

Temporary housing with fixed comfort

Residents of Ten Boer, Groningen, have the opportunity to temporarily move into a replacement home while their own home is being repaired from earthquake damage. Teleflex fitted as many as 198 electric window openers, because even in the temporary homes the residents must experience plenty of comfort.

Daiwa House Modular Europe designed the exchange homes on behalf of National Coordinator Groningen. They are completely single-story and contain a living room, bathroom, bedroom and shed. Plastic window frame manufacturer Kumij asked Teleflex to fit 33 of the 50 homes with electric window openers. The specialist in electrical and mechanical window controls provided each home with six window openers that can be controlled with a radio remote control. The remote control has six channels, allowing each window to be operated individually in a quick and easy way.

Teleflex provided 33 of the 50 homes with electric window openers.

Electric and manual

The exchange homes were placed for people who had to temporarily leave their homes due to the reinforcement work on their own homes. They include people with disabilities, which is why the C20 electric window opener was chosen. "Because the space above the moving sash of the sash windows was quite limited, a compact window opener had to be mounted. The C20 meets this requirement like no other and perfectly matches the quality and appearance that was expected. It is one of our best-selling products because it is very good in terms of price and quality. In terms of design, it is compact and does not stand out very much. The windows in Ten Boer can be opened to a maximum of 36 cm. That contributes to natural ventilation and air quality," says Jesse Verheem, operations manager at Teleflex. The C20 is available in a 230V and a 24V model, in black, white and gray.

Appropriate product for every project

Teleflex's team began assembly in February and was completed in early May. The work was done in phases, Verheem says. "The inside and the window frames had to be ready and then we could get to work. We do the project from start to finish. If required, we are involved in projects right from the consulting phase. Based on the type of window, dimensions, weight and user requirements, we recommend the most suitable products for each project. Of course, we take into account the applicable requirements and the appearance of the building."

The window openers can be controlled by radio remote control. The homes are temporary, yet received lasting comfort.
