Fire protection solutions: Invisible in buildings, but vital

Passive fire protection is not seen in a building, but indispensable in every utility building and in residential construction. For this purpose Rf-Technologies BV designs fire resistant dampers with controls, smoke control dampers and fire resistant ventilation grills. These are produced in our own factory and meet the strictest European standards.

The fact that the products come from our own factory has the advantage that the lead time is very short. Moreover, Rf-Technologies has its own warehouse with a large stock. The products are appreciated by installers, because they are delivered quickly, they are easy to install and they are fully certified.

Rf-Technologies is an originally Belgian company and active throughout Europe. The Dutch branch will exist exactly ten years in 2024. Michel van Hamersveld has been director at the Dutch branch since the beginning. "We work with a team that responds quickly to everything. If we receive a request in the morning, we offer the same day."

Short and reliable

"The strength of our company is that the employees sit in the installer's chair," Van Hamersveld continues. "We want to make it easy for them and answer the question on their desk quickly. The installation of our fire dampers is also done in a simple way, and you can get the necessary sealing materials yourself at a hardware store. No special kits are needed. The technician spends little time on assembly."

This is made possible by the R&D department, where all products are designed according to the wishes of the market and to the applicable laws and requirements. At Rf-Technologies, they only take care of fireproof penetrations and de-roofing of buildings, which makes it unique and a specialist in the market. "Other companies do this branch in addition, as part of a total concept. We specialize in it. We design and produce everything ourselves and send products directly to the customer. Short and reliable delivery times are very important to us," said Van Hamersveld.

Always up-to-date

The factory and R&D department are located in Oosterzele, Belgium. From there, the most recent legislation is monitored and applied to the products. They know that these meet the strictest requirements at Rf-Technologies because they carry out extensive tests themselves before the products go to the testing authority. They not only comply with European laws and regulations, but also with the standards per country. 

As a specialist, Rf-Technologies also offers advice to installers, consultants and safety regions. In addition, there is a knowledge center in Oosterzele where everyone can go for free product trainings. There, practical and technical training is given about the products, their applications and how to install them. Van Hamersveld: "Legislation is constantly changing. It is important that our products continue to comply with it and that we keep developing them. Quite recently, for example, the NEN 6075 applies, which specifies how resistance must be provided against the spread of cold smoke. We have developed new products specifically based on this, such as the SC60 Cosmo butterfly damper." This is a fire-resistant round butterfly valve with integrated check valve with a fire resistance of sixty minutes, equipped with a fusible link. "Our Zenix control is now also increasingly used following this NEN 6075, as fire dampers are fitted with a motor instead of manual operation. With this, the fire safety system is in one loop and no communication errors can occur. This promotes fire safety within the building. This is how we develop all our products: we look at the need in the market and embroider on that."
