On the corner of Laan op Zuid and 2e Rosestraat in Rotterdam Zuid, a new residential building with 295 rental and owner-occupied units is appearing, aimed at starting young professionals, young families and affluent senior citizens with an urban living desire. IMAGINE (block K3) was commissioned by developer AM and designed by Barcode Architects and consists of three parts: a 50-meter residential tower, a 70-meter residential tower and a connecting 22-meter low-rise. Commissioned by Schipper Electrotechniek, Vercoma Communication Systems supplied a full-IP door video system for all three building parts, in combination with a cloud-based access control system.
"We were asked by several parties to quote for the new building as early as October 2021," says Arjan Schouten, Manager of Sales & Service at Vercoma. "Among them was also Schipper Electrotechniek. This installation company from Nieuwe-Tonge has been part of Blom Elektrotechniek since 2020, with whom we regularly carry out projects. This is also how the ball started rolling for IMAGINE." The specifications prescribed a 2-wire system, he says. "Because Schipper Electrotechniek was very enthusiastic about our iPlusBUS door video system, we switched to this fairly quickly." In early 2022, the order was expanded to include an access control system. "Based on the number of access doors, the number of keys per dwelling and the desired integration of a pass reader into the outdoor station, among other things, we engineered a custom solution for IMAGINE."
With iPlusBUS from Beoview, Vercoma offers a future-proof, powerful and scalable door communication system that can bridge large distances and has unlimited connection capacity. "iPlusBUS offers all the advantages of full-IP door communication technology, but in combination with the well-known traditional simple bus infrastructure," says Schouten. "Other IP systems on the market are often star-wired, making installation complex and expensive. iPlusBUS has been changing this for some time. With this system, installers are assured of maximum ease of installation as well as easy remote management."
Compact BEOTOUCH touchscreen panels with integrated pass readers from the iP-Opener access control system were chosen at the entrance. "All rental and owner-occupied apartments are additionally equipped with a BEOVIEW 7 Lite-S door video monitor, which is distinguished by an extremely intuitive graphic user interface," Schouten said. "Thanks to the snapshot image memory, residents can see exactly who rang the doorbell and when. Also unique is the sleek design of the devices, which fits perfectly with the image envisioned by Barcode Architects." Thanks to two central iPGateway2Cloud multi-user gateways, all residents will soon have the ability to transfer calls to the free BeoviewApp on their smartphones. WITHOUT the need for adjustments in their homes. "This also allows residents to remotely see who is at their door and grant access if necessary."
In consultation with the installer, it was decided to pre-install all central peripherals in a ventilated and pre-wired steel mounting cabinet, including 220-volt plugs, Schouten concludes. "This allows the mechanics to install the installations at lightning speed and plug & play."
IMAGINE is not the first project in Parkstad in which systems from Vercoma have been installed. For example, the door video and access control systems can also be found in De Roseknoop (Block S). Vercoma also recently commissioned the systems for building KOER.
