EcoDim presents new trends in dimmer market

EcoDim is now an established name in the professional installation market with its range of universal led dimmers. "The basic range of universal led dimmers has been around for a while, so time for new groundbreaking developments" said founder Nick Vriese.

The basic dimming of LED lighting is improving, but problems are still regularly encountered. Commonly heard problems: blinking lamps, humming/buzzing lamps, unsuitable switching material, too little connection capacity, no adjustment possibilities, etc. With EcoDim LED dimmers, you can often solve these obstacles with the dimmer itself.

Installation ease for installer

If you're a professional working on a job, it's nice not to encounter any surprises. EcoDim's range is totally designed for ease of use. The dimmers can be used behind all brands of switching material, they work from 0W up to 450W LED power, there are dimmers that support both phase on and phase off technology, they have a MIN and often a MAX adjustment and they are always 2-wire connectable. In short, dimming without worries!

Smarthome is the trend

In addition to conventional LED dimmers, smart systems are becoming increasingly common. Here, controllers based on Zigbee and Z-Wave are especially popular. Especially the Zigbee protocol is on the rise. Well-known names such as Philips Hue, Homey, Trust (KlikAanKlikUit), Aduro Smart and Aeotec SmartThings have opted for Zigbee protocol. In addition, voice support from Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa is also becoming more common. "We see sales of smart dimmers growing tremendously over the past year, although the number of conventional LED dimmers still prevails."

Development of smart led dimmers

EcoDim started developing smart LED dimmers more than three years ago. Where some brands take "smarthome" as the basis for developing products, EcoDim has a different approach. "We take a stable universal LED dimmer as a basis and make it smart. After all, dimming performance and ease of use is always number one with us!"

EcoDim now has several LED dimmers based on Zigbee and Z-Wave, which are easy to integrate into the most sold smarthome systems. These smart dimmers can also be used as conventional LED dimmers and have the same functionalities. For example, these dimmers can also simply be connected 2-wire, but you can also make wireless links with wireless switches to create a changeover or crossover circuit, for example.

The Dutch company has already introduced two world firsts in the field of smart dimmers over the past two years. Namely, the first smart dimmer with push/rotate button (ECO-DIM.07) and this year the world's first Zigbee duo LED dimmer (ECO-DIM.05 Zibgee) was added. 

In 2012 under a different name in the consumer branch started selling led lighting. It soon became clear that the LED lighting also had to be dimmed and for this special LED dimmers are needed. When we experienced the problems in this market, we immediately dived into this. Because we sold a lot through our consumer branch in the early days, we received a lot of feedback from the market. This enabled us to develop our products into the customer-friendly LED dimmers they are today.

Meanwhile, we have a nice coverage in the Dutch market and our range for the professional installation industry consists of universal LED dimmers, smart dimmers, smart lamps, wireless switches and unique splashproof (IP54) recessed spotlights with a very small installation depth (23mm).
